A Flowchart System for the Identification of Common Synthetic Fibers by Polarized Light Microscopy

Abstract

A flowchart system for identifying common types of synthetic fibers is described. Based on polarized light microscopy, the system allows the rapid identification of the nine generic classes of synthetic fibers most often encountered in casework.
