Abstract

Current methods of hair identification are based on differential characteristics of the medulla observed with the light microscope. In this study, we propose a new method based on electron microscope observation of the medullary ultrastructure. Our studies revealed numerous new anatomical characteristics of the medulla, and a modern classification for mammalian hair identification was established.
