The Restoration and Identification of Water-Soaked Documents: A Case Study

CODEN: JFSCAS

Abstract

The wallet of a 33-year-old male who had been reported missing a year ago was recovered from a pond and submitted to the Arkansas Crime Laboratory for identification. While the wallet retained its original shape and size, the billfold contents looked to be severly damaged. This paper discusses the procedure used to restore and identify successfully these documents.
