Abstract

The technique of three-dimensional fluorescence is employed in the analysis of unused motor oils and selected machine lubricants. This technique provides much more spectral information than is available from conventional forms of fluorescence spectroscopy. A method for direct comparison of three-dimensional plots to determine if a common source exists is also presented.
