Abstract

In Part I of this paper (this publication), dropped weight impact testing was used to evaluate the influence of temperature and moisture on the impact resistance of various graphite/epoxy composites. In the present paper, subpenetration impact testing and subsequent damage characterization using ultrasonic c-scan and microscopic techniques are used to provide additional insight into the nature of the impact damage and to identify critical parameters affecting impact performance.
