Abstract

This paper presents the results of backscattering tests based on full-waveform scans performed on composite specimens. Five samples were manufactured with varying fiber directions and different numbers of laminae per direction. Ultrasonic backscattering tests of these samples were performed using digitized full-waveform scans. An algorithm was developed to determine the fiber direction with a tolerance of 2 to 3° and the number of laminae within a range of ± 0.5 lamina for sections close to the front surface.
