Molybdenum Trioxide—An Accelerator of Portland Cement Hydration

Abstract

Technical-grade molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) significantly accelerated the hydration of portland cement at 5 to 10% (by weight of cement) dosages. This somewhat unusual reactivity was observed and qualitatively measured via calorimetry.
