Variation of Laboratory Concrete Flexural Strength Tests
Greer, WC
Senior materials engineer, Law Engineering Testing Company, GA

Abstract

An analysis of 145 laboratory flexural-strength concrete mixes prepared for projects at the expansion of the Atlanta International Airport is presented. Typical values for within-test (within-batch) and between-test (between-batch) standard deviations are presented and compared with data published by others. Flexural strength as a function of age in the laboratory is discussed, and typical values are given for Type I cement mixes.
