(What is a Work Item?)

Work Item: ASTM WK9584 - New Guide for Standard Guide for Assessing Potential Hazards of Synthesis Reactions Using Reaction Calorimetry

Developed by Subcommittee: E27.02 | Committee E27 Home | Contact Staff Manager

Description Related Products
1. Scope

1.Scope 1.1This guide covers the measurement of heat flow that occurs during a chemical reaction or phase change. 1.2This guide utilizes techniques of reaction calorimetry and may be performed with reactions in which the initial mass is a liquid or slurry. Additional material in a liquid, gas or solid phase may be added to the initial mass. 1.3Calculations outlined in the guide can be used in assessing the risk presented by a chemical process. This would be a guideline to standardize terminology and calculations used in reaction calorimetry. The guidline would be used by chemical processors to facilitate hazard analysis.

Keywords
