1. Scope
Method will cover the determination of Fracture Toughness KIc and maximum energy release rate GIc by teasts using pre-cracked specimens be applicable to all graphites. Noc 2008: All experimental testing complete and RR research report being prepared for discusion at Dec 2008 D02.F meeting.
User are manufacturers and reactor/plant designers. Regulatory pressuere (US NRC) and ASME code requirments call for a standard method to determine KIc of graphite. Data wil be used in design of advanced graphite moderated high temperature nuclear reactors.
