1. Rationale

The Committee previously approved a ballot revision to the inch-series equivalent to this metric-series standard. This ballot is intended to provide the same flexibility for users and producers to this standard. That is, through the use of Supplementary Requirements, lubricated nuts could be ordered. Such lubricants could be specified on either coated or uncoated nuts just as with the inch standard.
