1. Scope
1.1 This practice establishes a means for determining the depth of penetration of sealers claiming the ability to penetrate mineral masonry surfaces and render them hydrophobic. 1.2 This practice can be used by manufacturers and materials testing laboratories to determine the depth of penetration of clear water repellents. 1.3 This practice makes no claim to work on all mineral masonry surfaces. This practice makes no attempt to look at the water-repellent performance beyond the depth of penetration. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
Presently, there are no standards to measure depth of penetration. Users will be QC, manufacturers, and government.
