B918/B918M-09 is past due for its five year review. In reviewing this standard, it was found that there were numerous formatting errors in the tables, that may have led to incorrect recommended practices. The formatting errors have been addressed. In discussion with B07.03 subcommittee, it was noted that ASTM B918/B918M, AA AS&D Table 3.4 & 3.5 and AMS 2772 are inconsistent in recommended practices. The proposed revision attempts to rectify the inconsistencies, with the order of priority given to AMS 2772, following by ASTM B918/B918M, followed by AA AS&D. (Separately an effort will be undertaken within TCPS of AA to make common where logical B918/B918M with AS&D tables 3.4 & 3.5). Finally, minor formatting and clean up were performed. Only tables 2 & 6 were modified for content, whereas all other tables (if necessary) had formatting revised for clarity. All other changes within the body of the document were editorial. Update 7/15/16 - revised standard was balloted in Mar16 and several negative votes were found persuasive and it was withdrawn. A summary response to all negatives was distributed to interested parties and then was discussed in person at the Spring B07.03 meeting in May16. No further feedback has been received, all noted changes were made and a final review was undertaken so that the standard is now ready for re-balloting.
