    1. Rationale

    Section 8.6.8 currently contains strength design load requirements for heavy adult patrons. This revision extends the requirement to cover heavy child patrons. The current fatigue design load for child patrons is 90 pounds which is approximately the 50th percentile eleven year old male in the US. The proposed 165 pound strength load requirement is approximately the 95th percentile twelve year old US male.
