1. A449 currently conflicts with F606 in that it allows for tensile test fractures to occur in the threads or in the body. This proposal eliminates the conflict. 2. The current test of section 7.2 does not clearly provide for testing requirements for large diameter/short length bolts. Voters recently approved similar clarifications to A325, A490, and other standards. Additionally, propose to clarify section 7.2 to indicate that length-dependent testing requirements are based on nominal length. 3. F16 has begun to eliminate D3951 packaging requirements from its standards. No new testing requirements are introduced for Item #2 or #3; existing requirements are merely clarified to remove potential conflicts of interpretation and to promote ease of use.
