Suppliers of reference electrodes are now providing silver/silver chloride reference electrodes with a saturated KCl filling solution. The standard potential of this reference electrode is not currently shown in Table X2.1. The purpose of this revision is to include these values as an aid for users of this standard. This may be more important if the silver/silver chloride reference electrode replaces the SCE reference electrode because of banning the use of mercury by government agencies.
