    1. Scope

    This test method covers the determination of Te, Se, Bi, Sb, As, Sn, Pb, Ag, Fe and Ni in unalloyed copper such as electrolytic copper cathode, copper rod drawing stock for electrical purposes and oxygen free electrolytic copper and refinery shapes.

    The range of E478 which supports B committee specifications does not cover the wide range of alloys covered by the specification, supplemental methods applicable to other ranges are necessary. The standard will be used by any manufacturers of alloys having to meet the B specs, quality control labs generating certificates of analysis for B spec alloys, anyone verifying compliance with B specs.
