    1. Rationale

    The changes to sections 8.21, 8.2.2 and 8.2.3 were accepted however it was also necessary to make changes to section 4. Summary of Test Method, to reflect the changes made to sections 8.21, 8.2.2 and 8.2.3. This was not done so I am proposing these changes to section 4,0 to give the test method better continuity. Present Version: 4. Summary of Test Method 4.1 This test method uses an image analyzer to measure the degree of roundness of graphite particles, viewed on a metallographic sectioning plane, that are above a minimum size in order to determine percent nodularity and nodule density. The magnification used for the analysis is based on a Maximum Feret Diameter (MFD) 50 pixels and 125 pixels for the average size graphite particle being measured. Particles having a MFD 10 % of the average MFD are not measured. Threshold settings are established by the operator, and can be influenced by factors such as polishing technique, illumination intensity and uniformity, and lamp voltage and stability.
