    1. Scope

    1.1 This test method is intended to provide a means for evaluating the compressive creep and recovery properties of hydrogels intended for use in load bearing medical device applications. 1.2 This document includes the following test methods used for determining the following hydrogel mechanical performance characteristics. 1.2.1 Standard test for determining the uniaxial confined compressive creep recovery. 1.2.2 Standard test for determining the uniaxial unconfined compressive creep recovery. 1.3 This document may not be appropriate for all types of hydrogels. The user is cautioned to consider the appropriateness of the standard in view of a particular hydrogel and its potential application.
