ASTM WK45390

New Test Method for Slip Coefficient and Tension Creep Testing of Coatings Used in Slip Critical Bolted Connections

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: D01.46 | Committee D01 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK45390

    1. Scope

Preparation of test specimens, slip coefficient set-up and testing procedures; tension creep test set-up and testing procedures; reporting

The AISC Research Council for Structural Connections handles the testing procedure as an appendix to a very large specification that has very little information pertaining to testing of coatings used in these connections. And there is no precision and bias data based on repeatability and reproducibility of the method. I addition, many testing variables believed to affect the outcome of the test are not defined. Users include bridge and building designers that employ bolted connections, manufacturers of coatings and testing laboratories.
