    1. Scope

    1. This practice guide sets out the general approach to the particle size distribution measurement of powders, suspensions, or slurries using an appropriate wet or dry methodology by the laser diffraction technique. It is recommended for use in measurements of broad particle size distributions. 2. The guide provides guidelines to the parameters that should be specified and a generalized guideline to reasonable and acceptable tolerances for points in the distribution curve such as dv10 (D 10), dv50 (D 50), dv90 (D 90) and D[4, 3]. 3. It provides guidance on the verification of instrument performance in conjunction with the internal QC audit functions of the instrument owner.
