The addition of the Discussion was at the request of members of the textile industry. There had been confusion with users of specifications (such as NFPA) that references D13s term sewn seam strength and what constitutes the difference in thread failure vs seam slippage or yarn slippage failure mode of a seam. When fabric rupture occurs the textile product may not be able to be repaired. In this case the product would need to be replaced. This is of concern to industrial work clothing rental services.
