F803 standard makes reference to prescription (corrective) lenses as within its scope (re. 1.3) but fails to speak in any regard to how frames might be qualified for use with Rxs or any forward instructional protocol which would go forward with the frame to the finishing lab to insure glazed lens compliance with the intent of the standard. Of late we have had a number of enquires as to how to qualify Rx lenses for use with F803 type protectors. This is a critical void within the standard as effects user safety as it specifically speaks to the allowance of Rx (corrective) lenses but fails to speak to any requirements assuring the compatibility, performance and safety of scripted lenses to F803 frames. The language below integrates into the standard minimal but appropriate requirements assuring the compatibility and safety of Rx lenses as used with F803 frames and without being design restrictive (i.e. lenses must be greater than 3mm).
