    New Test Method for Direction Impact Erosion of Coatings and Linings by Flowing Water Slurry

    1. Scope

    This test method provides a procedure for evaluating the direction impact erosion of polymeric materials, namely coatings and linings, in a vigorously agitated water slurry. This procedure simulates the degradation caused by sand, silt, and other suspended sediments in raw (or untreated) water.

    Looking to simulate immersion in liquid and potentially high velocities with a relatively small weight percentage of suspended particulates i.e. pumping of sediment laden river water. The Bureau of Reclamation worked to develop this standard and would like it to become an ASTM Method. There are numerous coating companies and customers who would be interested in this testing.
