ASTM WK44932

    Revision of B963 - 13 Standard Test Methods for Oil Content, Oil-Impregnation Efficiency, and Interconnected Porosity of Sintered Powder Metallurgy (PM) Products Using Archimedes’ Principle

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: B963 - 14

    Developed by Subcommittee: B09.04 | Committee B09 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

    During the balloting process for B962 and B963 it was pointed out that there were differences between them with respect to the temperature ranges listed for the removal of oil. This revision is to bring B963 into line with B962. It is also proposed to change interconnected porosity to surface-connected porosity throughout the document - including the title. Not all interconnected porosity may be surface connected and it is only the surface-connected porosity that will be impregnated with oil.

    impregnation efficiency; interconnected porosity; oil content; oil-impregnated bearings; oil-impregnation efficiency; oil-impregnated PM parts;
