This test method covers the procedure for determining the flow rate of air per unit width within the manufactured plane of geosynthetics under varying normal compressive stresses and a constant boundary conditions.
The capacity of a drainage geocomposite to transport air or other compressible fluid is a critical design parameter for the design of landfill caps and other applications. The industry has used a modification of the water transmissivity transmissivity test (D4716). However, boundary conditions (upstream / downstream pressure) and other parameters such as geometry of the test apparatus may influence the result. A standard is needed to ensure minimum repeatability of the results
