ASTM WK44347

Revision of E2072 - 10 Standard Specification for Photoluminescent (Phosphorescent) Safety Markings

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: E2072 - 14

Developed by Subcommittee: E12.13 | Committee E12 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK44347

    1. Rationale

Since 2009, E2072 (without the 2010 year designation) has been cited for product compliance in U.S. Codes, such as IBC International Building Code and IFC International Fire Code; also in NFPA 101- Life Safety Code. Each time, E2072 is listed with an EXCEPTION that the minimum luminance shall be 30 millicandelas per square meter at 10 minutes and 5 millicandelas per square meter after 90 minutes. The Subcommittee decided to harmonize E2072 with the Code requirements, so the Codes no longer have to mention an Exception but can cite E2072 as is.
