ASTM WK44292

Revision of D2619 - 09 Standard Test Method for Hydrolytic Stability of Hydraulic Fluids (Beverage Bottle Method)

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D2619 - 09(2014)

Developed by Subcommittee: D02.N0.08 | Committee D02 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

Section 7.8 requires filtration of the dried fluid before determination of the acid number. An internal comparison of the TANs of filtered versus decanted solutions did not show any statistically significant difference. We would like to do an ILS to further investigate this to determine if the filtration step can be made optional in the method. This would serve the purpose of streamlining the method by eliminating what can be a very slow step.
