ASTM WK44196

Revision of D98 - 05 Standard Specification for Calcium Chloride

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D98 - 15

Developed by Subcommittee: D04.31 | Committee D04 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

The reason for the need of an extra grade is market demand. At present the standard shoes a very wide gap between Grade 1 and Grade 2, i.e. from 77% to 90%. The market has demanded a grade in the low 80% range and such a product is now available, but not governed by any standard. The new Grade 2 figures reflect this new product, which mirrors the same sieve analysis as the former Grade 2 product. We now have four grades, 77%, 83%, 90% and 94% minimum purity. The sieve analysis of the new grades 2 and 3 are identical.
