ASTM WK44130

New Specification for Solid Wall Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Fittings for Profile Wall Thermoplastic Pipe

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: F17.10 | Committee F17 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Scope

Develop a specification for solid wall PVC fittings that permits the watertight connection of adjoining sections of profile wall thermoplastic pipe.

There are currently no standards for the connection of profile wall thermoplastic (HDPE, PVC and PP) pipe with solid wall PVC fittings. Profile wall fittings are inheritably structurally unstable for wye, tee, etc. connections. A solid wall PVC fitting provides a more uniform and controlled design for this complex connection. This would provide very beneficial options to all users of profile wall thermoplastic pipe.

Swedged bells, expanded bells, tapered walls.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
