    1. Rationale

    These revisions to D2122 bring the conditioning and testing humidity requirements in alignment with those of D618 Standard Practice for Conditioning Plastics for Testing. Section 7.2.1 of D618 states, When tolerance for temperature is +/- 2C, the tolerance for relative humidity shall be +/- 10 %. The proposed revisions are to D2122, Sections 6.2 Conditioning and 6.3 Test Conditions. The tolerance on humidity increases from +/- 5% to +/- 10% The revised wording is below. 6.2 Conditioning - Condition the test specimens at 73.4 +/- 3.6F (23 +/- 2C) and 50 +/- 10 % relative humidity for not less than 40 h prior to test in accordance with Procedure A of Practice D618, for those tests where conditioning is required. 6.3 Test Conditions - Conduct tests in the Standard Laboratory Atmosphere of 73.4 +/- 3.6F (23 +/- 2C) and 50 +/- 10 % relative humidity, unless otherwise specified in the test methods or in this test method.
