ASTM WK43922

Revision of F914 / F914M - 10 Standard Test Method for Acoustic Emission for Aerial Personnel Devices Without Supplemental Load Handling Attachments

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: F914 / F914M - 14

Developed by Subcommittee: F18.55 | Committee F18 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

This revision is an addition to appendix for F914 as well as F1430 and F1797. This ASTM standard recommends that identification of emission sources which fall outside the acceptance criteria should be followed up by the use of other non-destructive test (NDT) methods. In an effort to assist the user of this standard in deciding which of many non-destructive inspection methods would be suitable based on the location of the indications, the material in question, the amplitude and or the rate of acoustic activity, and the suitability of the NDT method to identify the indications, the ASTM sub-committee responsible for this document has recommendations for the use of other NDT methods.
