    1. Scope

    This standard specifies a rapid screening method using flow analysis by Fourier transform infrared (FA-FTIR) spectroscopy with partial least squares (PLS-1) processing for the determination of the fatty acid methyl ester content of light and middle distillate fuels, in the range of 30 to 1000 mg/kg. By virtue of a dilution procedure, this range can be expanded to over 5% m/m whilst retaining the precision advantages that this procedure offers

    This test method offers excellent precision over a very wide range of contamination or set mandatory levels of FAME. The apparatus design reduces the time for a measurement and the required technician involvement.
