    1. Rationale

    Reason for the ballot: 1)Section 10.2 is being revised to parallel section 10.1.1 to require calibration checks of the platinum resistance thermometer only as needed as indicated by failure of the performance check in Section 10.3 because of: The unnecessary nature of the thermometer calibration check at a defined interval due to the inclusion of required performance and quality control checks in Sections 10.3 and 11, which require calibration check if a performance or quality control check standard failure occurs. The excessive down-time, cost and potential loss or damage to instruments during shipping if sent to the manufacturer for a calibration check when the calibration is verified daily as required in Sections 10.3 and 11.
