The Scope of this standard is to create a wing interface standard so that a weight shift manufacturer could easily include a wing from a manufacturer other than themselves on a weight shift aircraft that they offer.
In discussion with Weight Shift manufacturers it has been determined that there is a desire to offer Weight Shift aircraft models that utilize the wing from one manufacturer on the carriage of another. This brings up several issues concerning ASTM design compliance, quality assurance, etc. This discussion has lead to the concept of a wing interface standard that would simplify the compliance and certification of aircraft that utilize wing and carriage configurations where the wing and the carriage are from different manufacturers.
