Current specifications refer simply to water in materials required for a concrete mix. This leaves the definition of water to any party involved in the manufacture and inspection process. In an effort to standardize the definition and to provide environmentally sound options, it is proposed to add reference to ASTM C1602 Standard Specifications for Mixing Water Used in the Production of Hydraulic Cement Concrete. This is the common reference for water used by the American Concrete Institute.
