The 4/10 silica abrasive referenced in this test method was discontinued in December 2011. A single lab study was conducted comparing the performance of the original sand, discontinued 4/10 & replacement 6/9 sand which showed the 6/9 was not equivalent. A round robin test was coordinated in 2015 to explore the original sand, replacement 6/9 and two other potential replacements.
