The term exterior in the building code describes weather exposed surfaces. The term V-groove is not defined in C926 or C11, not common in contemporary plastering and therefore is not clear. What is clear is that this existing text requires exposed ends and edges of plaster panels, to be sealed against water entry. Exposed ends and edges of plaster panels are defined by casing beads, control joints, expansion joints and similar exposed trim components. This revised paragraph does not nor when revised suggest that stucco is waterproof, but the proposed revision merely provides clarification to the intent of the existing requirements.
