1.1 This specification covers disproportionation (TDP) toluene. 1.2 The following applies to all specified limits in this specification: for purposes of determining conformance with this specification, an observed value or a calculated value shall be rounded off to the nearest unit in the last right-hand digit used in expressing the specification limit, in accordance with the rounding-off method of Practice E29. 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.4 Consult current OSHA regulations, suppliers Material Safety Data Sheets, and local regulations for all materials used in this specification.
It will be used by purchasers of toluene. This is a proposed standard for purchasing toluene to be used in a disproportionation unit. This proposed standard is needed because failure to meet certain specifications will result in a failure of the catalyst for a disproportionation unit. Previously, we proposed modification of D841, but the tests that were needed were put in the supplementary section and are not required so this new standard is being proposed.
