    1. Rationale

    A01.02 Subcommittee - new business item: S 745-13A Request to revise wording of S99 Interlock Strength supplement to ASTM A690 to provide clarity on applicability of the supplement with regard to type of sheet piling section. Rationale: Z-piles are not used in applications when interlock strength is required such as filled cells. These (Z-pile) sheets would tend to stretch and flatten in these cases. No minimum interlock strength is offered on Z-pile for this reason. When interlock tension is the primary consideration for design, straight (PS type) or arched (PSA type) web piling should be used.
