ASTM WK42974

Revision of C1032 - 06(2011) Standard Specification for Woven Wire Plaster Base

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: C1032 - 14

Developed by Subcommittee: C11.02 | Committee C11 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

The purpose of the proposed revision is to clarify the furring requirements of 20 gauge woven wire. Currently the standard is written with regard to code approved conventional plaster with lath requirements stated in C926 and C1063. In these instances, the plaster base is recognized to be 17 gauge (.051) and not 20 gauge (.035) with a plaster thickness of 7/8 inch. However, 20 gauge netting is a recognized lath in Cementitious Exterior Wall Coatings (document AC11 from ICC-ES). These systems are usually 3/8 inch in total thickness, and the lath is generally specified as 1/8 inch furring over solid substrates.
