ASTM WK42956

Revision of F2291 - 11 Standard Practice for Design of Amusement Rides and Devices

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: F2291 - 14

Developed by Subcommittee: F24.24 | Committee F24 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

The G-Force Task Group met previously and discussed several clarifications to Figure 20, the Transitions from Sustained Gz to +Gz Diagram of F2291. It was felt that the third figure in the existing diagram was unnecessary if the rate of change of accelerations is calculated as the change in accelerations (2-0=2) divided by the duration. The new Figure 20(a) provides a flowchart clarifying the process and the new figure 20(b) replaces the old figure 20, showing two examples. With this clarification, the use of onset is no longer necessary, and is deleted. This was balloted in 2010 and failed due to the desire for some additional clarifications (e.g. weightlessness was changed to weightlessness (0g). These clarifications are included in the ballot.
