    ASTM D283-84 (Reapproved 1999) Standard Test Methods for Chemical Analysis of Cuprous Oxide and Copper Pigments is a method used for the analysis of numerous copper and copper oxide materials. In particular it is used in the analysis of cuprous oxide used in marine antifouling coatings and agricultural fungicides, catalysts made of copper oxides and metallic copper powder, and cupric oxides. It is the only method regularly cited for the identification of total copper, reducing power, metallic copper, cuprous oxide and cupric oxide. It is a valuable, accurate method that has no known replacement. It is of particular value copper producers and end users.
