ASTM WK42871

Revision of C204 - 11 Standard Test Methods for Fineness of Hydraulic Cement by Air-Permeability Apparatus

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: C204 - 11e1

Developed by Subcommittee: C01.25 | Committee C01 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

The current ASTM procedure includes two options for calibration of the permeability cell used in the determination of the specific surface area. Option #1 includes determination by physical measurement and option #2 is a mercury displacement method. It is proposed to remove option #2 from the standard due to possible harmful health effects from exposure to mercury vapors during the calibration. In the Referenced Documents, Section 2.2, the Britsh Standard BS 4359 needs the date changed to 1982.
