    1. Rationale

    The purpose of this revision is to standardize the method used to compute the maximum design load for testing loadbearing wood stud walls. The appendix methods for calculating the loads for loadbearing wood stud walls provide methods for calculating the design load per stud but stop short of describing how the load per stud is transformed into the applied load for the full specimen. Current laboratory practices differ in how this final calculation is accomplished. This revision contains a method for converting the design load per stud to the total test load for the wall specimen.
