    1. Scope

    The current standard ASTM C563 is viewed as not very accurate for optimizing SO3 in Hydraulic Cement. Major drawbacks of C563 include the inability to optimize SO3 at different temperatures and in presence of SCM and/or admixture. The proposed new standard will allow the user to optionally optimize SO3 at different temperatures and in presence of SCM and/or admixture.

    Hydraulic cements are used at different temperatures and in presence of supplementary cementitious materials and admixture. Since these parameters often have a strong influence on the SO3 optimum, it is important to develop a standard that addresses the effect of temperature, SCM and admixture
