    1. Scope

    1.1 This specification covers the chemical, mechanical, and metallurgical requirements for metal injection molded (MIM) corrosion resistant steel-16chromr-4.1nickle-0.28niobium-3.2copper to be used in the manufacture of surgical instruments and components.

    There is a need for a 17-4 MIM specification with properties near wrought properties for surgical instrument components.
