Active Standard: F1083 - 13
As a result of changes within the steel industry, the high strength steel used to produce High Strength Grade 83000 is no longer produced in small lots. The minimum lot requirement, multiple 100s of tons of steel per pipe size, results in distribution and availability issues thus making the product not commercially available to distribute in normal fence industry quantities. The ballot is for the purpose of: 1. Removing High Strength 83000 Grade from the F1083 standard and subsequently its reference in F1043. 2. To eliminate current terminology confusion within F1083 and F1043 by revising the term Intermediate Grade used to designate 50,000 psi yield steel pipe in F1083 to the same term High Strength used in F1043 to designate 50,000 psi yield steel pipe. 3. Add to F1083 the additional commercially available sizes of the 50,000 psi yield pipe, 1 5/8 OD up to and including 5 9/16 OD. 4. Ballot and revise F1043 at the same time to reflect the revisions in F1083.
