ASTM WK41939

Revision of E119 - 12a Standard Test Methods for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: E119 - 14

Developed by Subcommittee: E05.11 | Committee E05 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

The ballot item proposes specific criteria for not sustaining the applied load during the fire resistance test on loadbearing walls and partitions. The proposed criteria have a format similar to the criteria in item used for Tests of Loaded Unrestrained Beams. The criteria are calibrated to be indicative of run-away vertical deflections. These criteria are proposed for the convenience of the labs, improved uniformity in the conduct of loadbearing wall tests and improved precision and repeatability of reported test results
