It is known that the use of porcelain crucibles yields results that are within the limits set in Table 1 of ASTM C114. Discussion during December 2012 subcommittee indicated the material post ignition cannot be used for other testing but was acceptable for loss on ignition of Portland cement. This will eliminate the need for qualification as a rapid method using porcelain crucibles for determining loss on ignition.
